Everything you need to welcome your flock and establish healthy daily routines from the very beginning. The Backyard Chicken Starter Kit combines premium feed, nutritious treats, comfortable nesting materials, and absorbent bedding to help create a clean, productive, and happy coop environment from day one.

What's inside:

Animal Hemp Bedding — Made from naturally absorbent hemp fibers, this bedding helps keep coop floors dry and comfortable by quickly capturing moisture. With less dust than traditional bedding options and excellent moisture control, it provides a cleaner environment while making routine coop maintenance easier.

All Flocks Poultry Feed — Designed for birds 7 weeks and older, this complete feed provides balanced nutrition for chickens, ducks, and other poultry. With an ideal protein level and essential nutrients, it supports steady growth, healthy digestion, and consistent egg production, making it easy to feed every bird from one bag. Crafted in the USA for dependable, everyday flock nutrition.

Mealworms (54% Protein) — A high-protein treat that supports feather health, growth, and overall nutrition. With 54% protein, these mealworms are a flock favorite and an excellent way to reward your birds while providing a beneficial nutritional boost.

Snack Time — A wholesome treat blend designed to add variety and enrichment to your flock's day. Perfect for hand-feeding, training, or encouraging natural foraging behaviors, it's a fun way to keep chickens active and engaged.

Aspen Nesting Pads — Soft, cushioned aspen pads create a comfortable nesting area while helping protect eggs from cracks and breakage. Their moisture-wicking design helps keep nesting boxes cleaner and eggs fresher between cleanings.

Chick care overview

Brooder temperature: Start at 95°F for the first week, reducing by 5°F each week until fully feathered.

Food & water: Offer chick starter feed and fresh water immediately. Dip each chick's beak gently into the water on arrival to encourage drinking.

Hydration boost: We include hydration supplements in your shipment — add to water for the first 24–48 hours to help chicks recover from transit.

Space: Allow at least 0.5 sq ft per chick in the brooder for the first few weeks.

Watch for: Huddling under the heat source (too cold), panting or moving away from heat (too warm). Active, spread-out chicks are happy chicks.
