Day-old chicks for every kind of flock
Choose from nearly 60 chicken breeds, from dependable layers and rainbow egg layers to fancy bantams, with exciting new varieties joining your longtime favorites for 2027. Every order is handled and packed with care, so your chicks arrive active and ready to settle in. Whether you're new to chickens or adding to your flock, you'll find the right birds here.
How ordering works
Every chick order is a pre-order for a specific hatch date that you choose when you order. Orders are filled first come, first served, and we recommend ordering 2–6 weeks ahead for the best selection. Most breeds come as pullets (female), straight run (unsexed) or cockerels (male).
Shipped orders need at least 6 chicks per box. Some breeds ship in their own box (the product page will tell you), and each box needs at least 6 chicks. Within a box, you can mix and match breeds that share the same hatch date or ship week. Local pickup in Preston has no minimum; each breed page shows whether pickup is available.
Shipping costs
Chicks ship by USPS Priority Mail with live-animal handling, in a ventilated box with GroGel for hydration, plus heat packs when the weather calls for them.
- 6–25 chicks: $34.95, our lowest live-chick shipping rate
- 26–50 chicks: $49.95
- 51–100 chicks: $59.95
Breeds that ship in their own box go by USPS Priority Mail at the same rates.
Optional Priority Mail Express at checkout: $69.95 for 6–14 chicks, $74.95 for 15–25, $79.95 for 26–50, $99.95 for 51–100.
Shipping farther than a day's drive from Maryland, such as south of the Carolinas or west of Ohio? We recommend Priority Mail Express. Express chicks are loaded first and usually arrive sooner, but USPS does not guarantee delivery times for live animals.
Ordering more than 100 chicks? Call us at (410) 635-1970.
Shipped chicks are held at your local post office, which will call you when they arrive. Please pick them up right away. Our Live Arrival Guarantee covers chicks picked up within one hour of that call. See shipping details or local pickup.
Marek's vaccine
Protect your flock against Marek's disease by adding the Marek's vaccine for $0.75 per chick.
