A true showstopper. Mille Fleur d'Uccles are bearded, feather-footed bantams whose name means "thousand flowers" — every golden feather is tipped with a black bar and a bright white spangle. Developed in Belgium in the early 1900s, they're friendly, small and a favorite with families.
Why backyard keepers love them:
- 🌸 "Thousand flowers" plumage — golden feathers tipped in black and white spangles
- 🧔 Beards, muffs and feathered feet — a fluffy face and feathered toes
- 🧸 Friendly and docile — gentle little birds that are easy to handle
- 🥚 About 104 eggs per year — small tinted eggs from a breed kept mainly for beauty
- 🐣 Good mothers — hens can go broody and raise their own chicks
What to expect from your Mille Fleur d'Uccle chicks:
Your Mille Fleur d'Uccle chicks are purebred bantams that represent the breed and variety, though show quality isn't guaranteed. Adults stay small — hens about 22 oz and roosters about 26 oz. Their spangled pattern grows more striking with each molt. Marek's Disease vaccination is optional and is not included in the chick price. To vaccinate your chicks, check the Marek's vaccine box in your cart. Chicks are backed by our live arrival guarantee.
Weeks to first egg: about 20–24 weeks

Common questions about Mille Fleur d'Uccles
Are d'Uccles good with kids?

How many eggs do they lay?
About 104 small tinted eggs a year. They're kept mostly for their looks and personality.
Do they need special care?
Keep bedding dry so their foot feathers stay clean, and give them a secure run, since small birds are easy targets for predators.
Will the pattern change as they grow?
Yes. The spangles usually become bolder and more even after each molt.
Pairs well with:
- Salmon Faverolles: another bearded, feather-footed favorite

Chick care overview
Chick care overview
Brooder temperature: Start at 95°F for the first week, then lower it about 5°F each week until they're fully feathered.
Food & water: Offer chick starter feed and fresh water right away. Dip each chick's beak gently into the water on arrival to encourage drinking.
Space: Allow at least 0.5 sq ft per chick in the brooder for the first few weeks.
Watch for: Huddling under the heat source means they're too cold. Panting or moving away from the heat means they're too warm. Active, spread-out babies are comfortable.
